To improve living conditions in Imizamo Yethu, promoting education is essential. However, education in South Africa is not free. Therefore, Help IY has decided to organise school fee sponsorships for children in need.
In doing so, we have found a sponsor for a 6-year-old Zimbabwean boy. He and his mum escaped the disastrous situation in their home country and came to Imizamo Yethu, seeking asylum in South Africa. As a single mother living with HIV, his mum is working hard to feed her little family. However, she cannot spare the money for school fees.
Now, through the sponsorship we have arranged, the little boy has been given the opportunity to attend the Little Lambs pre-school in Imizamo Yethu. Here, he receives the education and support he needs to start a successful and better life.
