More than 650 homes were destroyed by fire, leaving over 2,000 people homeless, including many children.
Most people have nothing but the clothes they were wearing when they fled for their lives.
Amidst this devastating tragedy, we are witnessing astonishing generosity and an incredible sense of community in Hout Bay.
The amount of donations from residents and businesses has been overwhelming, and there are so many volunteers helping with sorting, packing, transporting and distributing. I took a few photos at just one location yesterday, whilst there are around six such sites in Hout Bay.
